Intimacy Director

My practice as an Intimacy Director is rooted in actor protection and comfortability above all else. Coming from an acting and directing background, I have a unique mindset to approach these topics and ease the process for actors. My practice aims to:

1) Help actors feel more comfortable with the process of rehearsing and performing intimacy

2) Allow the actors to work within their tool set by utilizing Stanislavski acting/directing techniques.

In my experience as an actor, I’ve often found myself focusing on either myself and my comfortable, or on my fellow actor(s) and their comfortability. So much that I wouldn’t be able to be ‘in the moment’ and actually act the scene because I was concerned about the emotional needs of myself or others.

So in my practice, I aim to accommodates to the actor’s needs. I ensure that all actors are physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared for the intimacy before we ever choreograph. Through thorough discussion and preparation, I utilize Stanislavski techniques and Active Analysis to allow actors be in the moment of the intimacy and do what actors do: act. This allows me (the intimacy director) to gauge actors before we choreograph the intimacy, it allows actors to prepare for intimacy without the pressure of choreography.

“Working with Lexie was wonderful. I felt fully supported emotionally and physically as she worked with me and my scene partners needs to establish a safe choreography that we could easily adapt if our level of comfort changed at any point. I felt heard and understood at all times. Highly recommend working with Lexie!”
